Over 300 million people across the world receive regular remittances from family abroad. These are predictable, recurring cash flows — yet every bank in the world ignores them as proof of creditworthiness. The people who receive $928 billion in annual remittances remain locked out of credit markets entirely.

That was the problem we walked into the Creditcoin Addis Ababa Ideathon with. We had a conviction that on-chain remittance verification could unlock zero-collateral micro-loans for the unbanked — and Creditcoin's USC infrastructure gave us the exact primitive we needed to build it.

We presented RemitStake — a decentralized credit infrastructure layer that sits on top of Creditcoin. The core idea: when a remittance recipient proves 6 months of consistent inflows via on-chain Creditcoin USCs, they automatically qualify for a micro-loan sized to their average monthly remittance.

No collateral. No bank account. No credit history required. Just a verifiable on-chain remittance record and an AI-powered LTV scoring engine that calculates creditworthiness in real time.

We were awarded 2nd place — recognized for best protocol design in the decentralized finance category. The judges validated what we had been building toward: remittance verification as a foundation for on-chain credit is not just viable, it is necessary.

We did not celebrate for long. We came home and built the platform. One month of focused development later, RemitStake is live. The same idea we pitched in Addis Ababa is now a working protocol with real vault contracts, AI scoring, and MTO integrations across 78 corridors.
